Why visit Cabrerets?

Cabrerets is a picturesque village typical of the Lot region. La Célé valley runs through it, carving out the rock and leaving behind impressive cliffs.

Le troglodyte castle known as the Château des AnglaisAlso known as the "Devil's Castle", it is over 800 years old and its high tower can still be seen clinging to the cliff. You can see it from our gîte! It was destroyed after the Hundred Years' War.
The foundations of the current Cabrerets castle were built in the 13th century, and the castle was rebuilt in the 16th century.

 

 

A village full of life

Every year, some 80,000 visitors come to discover the famous Pech Merle cavea key prehistoric site in the Batch and beyond.

The village has several craftsmen and artists A potter, a sculptor, a basket maker and a painter are on display not far from the village square.

Situated about thirty kilometres from Cahors, Cabrerets is a small village with a rich history. various amenities Shops (bakery, grocery/newsagent/tobacco shop), post office, restaurants and bars.

In summer, there are also 2 bars - restaurantsof which The Wheel on the village square, and the Hotel Restaurant des Grottes. All are located on the main street of Le Barry.

The beach at Cabrerets is also a popular destination for locals from many of the surrounding villages.
This pebble beach is obviously located on the Célé, bordered by its old mill imposing. You'll love swimming in its clear waters, but you'll also enjoy heckling around where there's a bit of current, sliding down the canoe channel (which is normally forbidden...), or diving off the high rocks.

Between the village of Cabrerets and Sauliac, visit the Museum of the Unusual that'll put a smile on your face!

 

 

Le Bout du Lieu, an emblematic district of Cabrerets

The Un Jardin dans la Falaise gîtes are located at the end of Cabrerets, overlooking the Célé valleyin the "Bout du Lieu" district.

Le GR651, a variant of the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago de CompostelaIt descends from the causse and emerges just beside the house. At the time, people travelled between Figeac and Cahors via the causses du Quercy just above, and you could descend to the village via Bout du Lieu.

If you're good, we'll take you to see our hidden treasure on the causse: our traditional stone casellejust above our little paradise! You'll just have to earn it with a good climb and a few steps in our wasteland, which is brightened up by birds and butterflies.
